Bupivacaine HCl Injection, Multidose Vial, 0.5%, 50 mL is a long-acting local anesthetic used for infiltration, peripheral nerve block, and sympathetic nerve block anesthesia. It is a generic equivalent to Marcaine™ and Sensorcaine®, providing effective pain relief by inhibiting sodium ion influx in nerve membranes, thereby blocking nerve signal transmission. The 0.5% concentration ensures prolonged anesthetic effect, making it suitable for surgical, obstetric, and therapeutic procedures requiring extended duration of action.

This formulation is supplied in a 50 mL multidose vial, allowing multiple withdrawals under aseptic conditions. It is not intended for caudal, epidural, or spinal anesthesia due to the potential risk of severe adverse effects, including cardiotoxicity and central nervous system toxicity. Bupivacaine HCl has a slower onset but a significantly longer duration of action compared to other local anesthetics, making it a preferred choice for procedures requiring prolonged pain control.

The solution should be administered only by trained healthcare professionals familiar with its pharmacological effects and potential complications.
